Linch pins are commonly used to hold wheels, axles, gears, and other moving parts in place. This also helps prevent them from sliding out of position or becoming disconnected. They are also used to secure scaffolding, gates, fences, and other structures that require frequent assembly and disassembly - they have many uses

It consists of a cylindrical or tapered pin having a head on one end and a hole on the other, along with a clip or ring that keeps the pin from falling out. These are available in different sizes, from 4.5mm to 11mm
